Service

Violin repair and restoration

Our workshop offers a full repair, restoration and maintenance service for violins, violas and cellos. We adjust and set up every instrument to meet the specific requirements of each musician and optimise its sound.

We believe in maintaining a relationship of trust and dialogue with the musician, based on listening, transparency and availability. Every restoration begins with a discussion to determine the right approach, followed by a free, no-obligation quotation.

Restoring a violin, viola or cello is an art requiring precision, experience and sensitivity. Good repair or restoration should show no visible traces and should not alter the tone of the instrument. Our many years of experience have allowed us to work on both modern and antique instruments, whether affected by the deterioration of time or accidental damage.

Our working philosophy comes from traditional, extensive training, based on the historic apprentice model – the student learns alongside the master until ready to work independently. I was fortunate enough to train under this concept, and to receive the guidance and generosity of my luthier teacher, Laurent Lopez, whose advice is a fundamental part of my methods.

Tomography service

for violins, violas and cellos

Our workshop offers a tomography service for violins, violas, and cellos – a non-destructive inspection technique inspired by medical imaging, which allows us to obtain videos and X-ray cross-sections of the instrument’s interior without the need to open it.

This advanced technology allows us to inspect both the internal surface and the deeper structure of the wood, making it an ideal tool to:

  • Assess the structural condition of extremely valuable, antique or modern instruments.
  • Plan restorations with precision to minimise risks.
  • Provide reliable documentation on the internal condition of the instrument in the event of a sale.

A detailed report on the internal structure of the instrument is provided on completion of the assessment.

You can request a no-obligation quote or visit the workshop to view samples of the results this technique offers in the assessment of your violin, viola or cello.
